Alan Friel

Alan leads the firm’s U.S. Consumer Privacy practice and is a thought leader in the field of digital media, intellectual property, and privacy/consumer protection law. He counsels clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other data privacy regimes, as well as the firm’s retail, restaurant, and e-commerce industry initiatives. Alan is the coordinator of the Digital Assets and Data Management practice for the firm’s California offices.

Having served as a general counsel for several years before returning to private practice, Alan is able to advise clients on making practical, informed business decisions. He helps clients navigate the complex opportunities that disruptive technology creates.

Taylor Bloom

Taylor has significant experience operating at the intersection of law, technology and business. She is keenly focused on international data protection, data privacy and governance. She has led the implementation of global privacy and data security policies and programs, advised on compliance issues, and negotiated agreements with vendors and business partners using her knowledge of the advertising technology ecosystem and related privacy issues. Taylor regularly counsels her clients on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Heidi Maher

Heidi is an attorney and legal technology specialist who has advised hundreds of organizations on information governance. From assessing maturity levels and drafting readiness plans to helping implement solutions, she’s helped organizations make the move from theory to practice.

Most recently, as the Executive Director of the Compliance Governance & Oversight Council (CGOC), she promoted best practices around information governance through speaking engagements, articles, whitepapers and events. Her experience also includes Data Privacy lead for Hybrid Cloud, Data and AI and Analytics divisions at IBM, a felony prosecutor, a civil litigator, and an assistant state attorney general.
